the homecoming

Remember in college...when you pack your bags, she'd ask you to bring your dirty clothes and you'll take a huge bundle JUST FOR THE WASH! The day of travel and she'll make you wake up 3 hours in advance so that you’d be on time for your train...and you end up being ready an hour in advance... thinking if you could have a shower again before leaving :P.
then she will call up & confirm (not less than thrice) whether you've kept the tickets intact, in place!

and no matter how old you are, 18 or 48 she'd always ask you not to get down on the random railway stations in between..

and when I get down from the train the frenzy begins, to find those eyes, the eyes that just sparkle when they get even a glimpse of you...it takes barely seconds for her to find...i get down...land my bags and there she is...i touch her feet...she is all smiles and hugs me with all the love she could shower

then she'll start telling what she made for lunch\dinner... whatever... food will always be waiting at home. and she won’t stop... she has a million things to tell... even if you have a talk every single day (TWICE)!

I’m peeping outside the window... its raining... makes me think about the pakodas i whine for and mom finally makes them... sayin "i'll just taste 'one'...” and you end up having only some

when I reach home... my dog comes running and growling...as if a child complaining about every "bad" thing people did to it. It'd take my handbag from my hand (always) and carry it inside... and then won’t return...then when it gets all tired of its tantrums... it'll just leave the bag at some random place and lie down near my feet...
as soon as you get up.. it gets up too.. "heads up for fooood"!

Then you'll settle down... while she'll keep asking over n over again if you're hungry...you unpack... take out gifts...
And other stuff too.. leave the room like that... all shabby... to give it to her...all fascinated... if she'll like it or not
(though its never a surprise.. :P) she'll love it even its ridiculous..

then dad'll call from office.. "hmm.. you reached.. good.. was the journey okay?.. alright! then see you in the evenin.."
SIR YES SIR!

i throw myself on the couch...turn on the tv and smile (the 'woah' expression by Joey & Chandler on friends when they got their LA-Z-Boys fits better :P) remembering the days of glory.. watchin any random movie, who cares.. its my couch!

hours pass and i still lay there.. in peace!

doorbell! and its pitaji back from office..i panic.. shrug off the lethargy. He arrives with his office bag..heavy as ever, i reach up to touch his feet, he blesses keepin his hand over my head..and moves in like a silent terminator..

bad day/ good day...its the same..give him ten minutes and hes afresh.. then you can make out if the day was fruitful.

he'll take my 'woah' couch and browse through the channels.. its a treat if theres a bachchan movie..

i take out the present i bought for him.. "yea..its good.. acha hai acha hai" he looks up and smiles..

dinner!!!!!!!

everything'll be your fav.. the way you've dreamt it.. for all these months..

i hog.. overeat and pop a unienzyme.. :P

at night you'll have the sweetest sleep... obvious after the wholesome burp you get after eating the food from heavens..you'll sleep like a baby..even the nightmares will keep u entertained till the morning.. no commercial breaks.

my dog still maintains a habit, a very cute one still very annoying when its your first morning at home.

It comes and wakes me up.. sticking its wet slime-ish nose to my face. If I turn my face around then it tries the trick on my feet. What actually ticks me off is when i struggle to grab my watch from the table
nearby and strain my sleepy eyes to see the time.. ITS 6 IN THE MORNING! but then when you look at it..its all smiles and wagging its tail at the speed of light or even faster.. you can’t help but ditch your cozy, comfortable, snug bed and take it out for a run.

i miss home! :(
